Evaluation of the LTS courses

As first vehicle to implement the strategy the Vanguard Course initiative was launched in 2006/2007.

The development of the Vanguard Courses - exisiting first year courses - was guided by a set of Principles derived from the Learning and Teaching Strategy. Some of the Principles, such as those relating to self-assessment and student group work, have been enacted more extensively.

There are some promising early indications that working in accord with these Principles can enhance the quality of students’ learning.

This year the initiative has been extended to a number of second year courses under the new title: Progressive Learning Model. The new name represents the aim of the initiative to become a more long-term exercise, progressing from one year to the next.
